2 Months After Open Heart Surgery

I am really sorry that I haven't posted for so long, and really touched by the messages I have had from people checking to see if I am okay!

I have been a bit lazy on the blog, but basically because I am just about getting back to normal - especailly these last 2 weeks, I have a lot more energy and strength and have had some busy days (and nights) :) Anyway - here is the video:

I talked a little about my scar coming "undone" in the video and needing more stitching - this is EXTREMELY RARE, and I think it must just be my lack of skin healing ability or something, but I haven't heard of anyone else having to have further stitches - so don't worry, it probably won't happen to you :) And even if it does, its nothing to worry about:

2 Weeks After Open Heart Surgery

Nothing dramatic really happened in between last week and this week, I recovered - a lot - mainly by walking daily, staying active (without doing anything strenouos ), I feel even better now, and have a lot more energy :)

1 Week After Heart Surgery Update

This is a video exactly 1 week after my surgery, I'm feeling great, getting stronger every day. I'm not so spaced out anymore, having stopped the stronger pain killers during the day, I'm just in a really good mood and still really relieved :)

Just Arrived Home

I took this video shortly after arriving back home - was a great relief to be out of hospital and allowed home :)
Looking back on this I was still pretty spaced out :) I just talk about walking and coughing and being a bit tired... oh, and a first glimpse of "the scar" :)

Day 4 - Going Home!

Just 4 days after surgery the doctors come and see me and tell me I can go home - it's amazing how fast you can recover from something that sounds so serious!

Day 3 - Starting To Get Better!

The worst was over at this point, after a little worry over my heart rate I start to walk and recover. All the excitement and drama is over now, which doesn't make for thrilling videos, but I was sure glad to be bored :)

Day 2 - Toughest Day & Plenty of Pain

This post follows straight on from the last video. Whereas last time I was having fun and laughing with nurses, this video comes in 2 parts, yes, it was an "epic" day. My hardest day, by far, with plently of pain.

However, as I say at the end of the second video, as painful and as horrible as this experience was at the time, looking back now it is just a tiny bad memory, in a much broader massively positive experience.

I wanted this blog to be completely positive and show heart surgery as painless, and an easy recovery (to calm people's worries, as I needed mine calming)... it's simply not the case, you will probably experience some pain, but even now knowing what pain is likely I would not hesitate to do the whole thing again if I had to.
